NoviqTech and Livium Partner to Tokenise Battery Recycling Benefits01:31 AM, May 28 2025
NoviqTech (ASX: NVQ) and Livium (ASX: LIT) have entered a project agreement to tokenise the environmental benefits of Livium’s battery recycling operations. The project uses NoviqTech’s Carbon Central platform to create a real-time, traceable digital framework for tracking carbon reductions and mineral recovery.
Livium’s process extracts lithium, nickel, and cobalt from used batteries. These recovered materials reduce demand for new mining and associated carbon emissions.
At the heart of the project is NoviqTech’s Digital Twin technology. The Carbon Central platform models Livium’s recycling operations and integrates live operational data. This enables precise emissions tracking, energy usage reporting, and transparent verification of mineral circularity.
Tokens generated from this data will be recorded on the Hedera distributed ledger.
The Hedera distributed ledger is a public blockchain platform designed for fast, secure, and energy-efficient transactions. It uses a unique consensus algorithm called Hashgraph, which enables high throughput and low latency.
This ensures the traceability, security, and immutability of each verified environmental certificate generated by Livium.
The partnership comes as Livium prepares for national expansion. A new larger site is planned, supported by a WA government grant.
“It is becoming increasingly clear that Governments globally are prioritising the modernisation of equipment, ESG reporting and sustainable practices,” said Simon Linge, CEO of Livium. “Partnering with NoviqTech allows us to bring digital innovation to our recycling operations, providing verifiable evidence of the carbon and resource savings we deliver.”
The platform enables Livium to align with battery passport regulations and global carbon reporting standards. Tokenised outcomes will include:
Verified carbon reductions.
Automatically generated digital certificates.
The initiative aims to support global traceability mandates for critical minerals.
NoviqTech’s CEO Freddy El Turk said, “Our Carbon Central platform will help transform how battery recycling’s environmental benefits are quantified and monetised, boosting transparency and trust across the value chain.”
This partnership positions both companies at the forefront of digital environmental accounting. As recycling volumes grow, the project may help scale verified sustainability outcomes into new commercial and regulatory markets.
